General - What is the deal with negative credits?

I had 0 Credits, uploaded 10 images, 3 were moderated, then got -5 Credits.
What is this? Why did that happen?

Woah! Just earlier I had 18 credits uploaded 10 images, now I have 2 credits...................

I think I worked it out.
Bigger versions of some posters got upped and I lose credits being the uploader of the smaller ones that got replaced.
Man that's ridiculous.😔 I see how it works though.
